General description of the organisation:
The “Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari e di Perfezionamento di Pisa” (Sant'Anna School for Advanced Studies) is a public institution for the university education whose aims are those of promoting and enhancing the scientific culture. The Management of the School is organized into Division which has been dedicated to the main objectives of the school: University Education, Research and High Level Training. The Scuola currently employs 53 faculty members (22 Full Professors, 21 Associate Professors and 35 Assistant Professors). The school also coordinates his education and research activities by means of 38 researchers and 35 seniors. 93 administrative personnel integrate the coordination and management activities.
PERCRO Laboratory is a research laboratory of Scuola Superiore S. Anna. More than 50 researchers with multi-disciplinary background work in the lab. Their experise varies from: mechanical design to control, electronics, 3D graphics system, software applications, human factors and project management. The research activities at PERCRO are focused in the field of Virtual Environments, simulators, haptics and telepresence.

Role of the participant organisation in the proposed project:
PERCRO has been involved into several national and international projects for the design and implementation of applied systems in virtual reality. On the basis of the experience gained in several projects concerning the design and development of simulators, within the OPTIMUS project PERCRO will be involved in the analysis of the methodologies and definition of the guidelines for training activities performed in a simulated environment.
Furthermore PERCRO activity will deal with the analysis of the parameters that will permit to check the level of transfer of knowledge.

Will lead WP1 (Development of Methodologies). Will participate to all other WPs.
